We are a fast paced, high energy manufacturing business making non-standard fasteners and precision components based in Tividale, Oldbury.

Our work is varied and often bespoke so as an engineer you will find an environment where your technical knowledge of turned and threaded parts and creativity are constantly called upon. Its a busy environment, requiring varying manufacturing processes which needs out of the box thinking, high levels of motivation and a keen eye for detail.

We are a long standing business, operating since 1981 but under new owners and leadership, the past 4 years has seen our offer expand into CNC machining and we are growing at a high pace with big plans for expansion in the future.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Production Engineer to join our established team in the manufacturing of bespoke fasteners and precision components, supporting in the expediting of jobs from job card to despatch. Supporting the Managing Director and the shop floor team, this role is critical in ensuring jobs run smoothly throughout the manufacturing process.

The Production Engineer is responsible for:

Determining the production process for new machined and threaded parts using purchase order and customer drawings

Co-ordinate work and expedite jobs through the factory to completion to meet the requirements of the production schedule

Manage efficiently the distribution of work to job contractors for processing, such as heat treatment or metal plating

Ensuring quality control measures at all times to ensure parts are manufactured to customer drawings

Upkeep of ISO9001 documentation, liaising with our Quality Consultant to ensure compliance at all times

Finding resolutions to shop floor part quality issues to determine route cause

Answering and managing shop floor queries

Liaising with customers to provide updates, ensuring the manufacturing process is completed, to standard, within key delivery times.

Is this right for you?

We are looking for an experienced production engineer with a strong understanding of different manufacturing processes for turned and threaded parts. This role requires both office and factory floor work and we require someone who is happy to balance both elements. A knowledge of job scheduling would also be advantageous.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

A detailed understanding of technical drawings for turned parts or threaded components

Knowledge of tooling required to manufacture a machined component.

Experience of operating and setting turning machines.

Knowledge of metal materials, specifically bar stock.

Understanding of general fastener standards and strength grades

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: 25,000.00-40,000.00 per year

A vacancy has arisen to join the Mechanical Department. This is an excellent opportunity to work as part of a highly skilled Mechanical Engineering team within a lower tier COMAH facility. The successful candidate will be an experienced, qualified Mechanical Fitter. You will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a range of departments to ensure that daily goals are achieved.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience listed below:-

Mechanical plant installation and modification work including TIG welding of pipework etc.
Mechanical preventative and reactive maintenance work in an industrial environment working on equipment such as gearboxes, pumps, mechanical seals, pipework etc.
Statutory inspections - pressure testing, plant integrity and commissioning work.
The use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
The ability to use and interpret equipment drawings, manuals and other technical information to assist with all works.
Work in accordance with the company safe systems of work and permit to work systems.
Management of a small site-based Civils department.
The management and understanding of Civil inspections, in compliance with statutory regulations and company codes of practice.
The management of minor Civil engineering projects and any additional contract resources.
The management of planned preventative maintenance procedures and examination schedules relating to buildings, drains, roads and sewers and assisting in the development of new examination schemes.
Responsible for assessing the risks of civil related tasks and to record all findings on the relevant company documentation. E.g. working at height, manual handling, permit to work, hand arm vibration etc.
Experience in all aspects of civil engineering. E.g. demolition, drainage systems and building regulations.
The use of Computerised Maintenance Management Systems.
The ability to use and interpret equipment drawings, manuals and other technical information to assist with all works.
Work in accordance with the company safe systems of work and permit to work systems.
