Carry out universal grinding on gear parts
Carry out cylindrical grinding on gear parts
CNC Grinding machining

Extensive skills in universal and cylindrical grinding
CNC Grinding skills will be advantageous but not essential as training will be offered
Some experience of gear production is advantageous
Able to work to very tight tolerances
Hours are Days on this role

The company is based in Redditch so is easily commutable from Bromsgrove, Birmingham, Droitwich, Worcester, Solihull, Alcester

Job Purpose:
Maintenance technicians work within a multi-disciplinary team and are responsible for maintaining and repairing the automated production machinery, plant equipment, tools, and systems used in manufacturing, engineering, and other industrial processes. Achieved through conducting periodic maintenance checks, planning equipment upgrades, machinery modifications, identifying faults, investigating equipment breakdowns, and monitoring their performance. All of which helps to achieve our production equipment uptime KPI target.
General / Tasks and Duties:
• Carry out routine planned preventative maintenance to prevent breakdowns and malfunctions of production equipment across all manufacturing and test areas and on some facilities plant equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment to determine specific malfunctioning issues and repair accordingly on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and test systems throughout manufacturing and test areas.
• Complete non-urgent tasks, improvements, and projects to support manufacturing, quality, and engineering departments.
• Record detailed information of work activities through hand-held CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) devices.
• Source and order spare parts to maintain desired stock levels.
• Control contractors safely for routine servicing/calibration.
• Installation and commissioning of new production equipment/processes
Specific skills and experience to role:
• Strong knowledge of mechanisms and control systems and able to understand automated processes.
• Ability to decipher technical information and schematics to take a logical approach to problem-solving.
• Excellent organisation and planning skills together with the ability to work to deadlines.
• Able to work as part of a team and on one's own initiative.
• Good communication, verbal, and written skills.
• Good interpersonal skills to deal with challenging situations and relationships with stakeholders.
• Computer-literate and able to navigate various computer and equipment software.
• Safe Crane Operation
• Knowledge of safe working practices and health and safety at work responsibilities.
• Able to make detailed written instructions.
• Ability to handle basic tools, bench fit and fabricate.
• Use SPC (statistical process controls) to help fault-find intermittent issues affecting first-time yield.
• Train others in existing procedures/practices.
Qualifications:
• NVQ3 Advanced level 3 Electrical/Mechanical Apprenticeship
• Safe Use of Toolroom Equipment
• 18th Edition Wiring Regs
• Driving licence

All after short period 7-30 -16.30 for induction and training

Cnc lathe with bar feed (fanuc control)
Self inspection hour checks gauges and QC (experience of cmm and shadowgraph bonus)
Load material mainly bar
m/c daily checks
maintain quality off set and tool changes
all the lathes at mcs are mullti axis so milling experience a bonus.
Depending on tolerances and cycle time up to 5 or 6 machines.

* setting power presses Preferably specialised in Bruderer or chin fong
* working with the tool room section on day to day Issues
* working to tight deadlines
* be able to do first off inspection



As a person you will need the following qualities and experience:

* Previous power press experience (i.e. setting presses up to 60 tonne)
* must have an up to date R.O.S.P.A ideally with a Toolmaking background
* Positive attitude (Essential)

Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Job Summary

The company is seeking a candidate with drive, enthusiasm and hands-on engineering competence, to become fully conversant with all rolling mill and presswork process machinery.

This will eventually lead to the successful candidate taking 'ownership' of the day to day mechanical maintenance engineering issues as well as including preventative maintenance schedules, and process and efficiency improvements.


Job Responsibilities.
Roll changes- 50% of time
Rolling mill maintenance- 10%
Press maintenance- 10%
Machine service contract- 10%
Measurement / Standard- 10%
Operating Procedures (S.O.P.)
Stores Kanban control- 5%
Infrastructure service contract- 5%

Initial key responsibilities will include:

• Planning/developing and undertaking scheduled machine maintenance Creating/developing maintenance procedures

• Maintaining control of STL consumables for G10/G20

• Responding to breakdowns and engineering issues

• Mechanical fault diagnosis

• Equipment repair/improvements

• Liaising with, assisting, and supervising service contractors

• Draft & manufacture of, or sourcing and purchasing of specialist components and equipment

• Creating and maintaining machinery component drawings

• Creating Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.P.)


Person Specification.
