Title: Engineering machinist. (Core Skills Turning / Boring)
Reports to:Manufacturing Team Leader.
Based at:Thermex Ltd, Redditch, Worcestershire.
To safely plan and carry out machining operations on a wide range of products and materials, working from engineering drawings will be competent to identify process and tooling requirements to manufacture products to a high quality standard in a production environment.
Working safely in line with company policy.
Knowledge of Using hand tools correctly.
Reading and understanding of measuring equipment.
Reading and understanding of engineering drawings and relevant instructions..
Understanding lathe/milling machines, there use and capabilities.
Types of turning tools and there use.
Speed and feed calculations for various tools and materials.
How to set up and turn with precision.
Planning out the project and cutting sequence.
Set up and use of face plates and chucks.
Correct use of fixed and travelling centres.
Turning between centres.
Cut threads using taps and dies.
Turning operations, Angles, form tools, steps and shoulders, tapered and knurled diameters.
Drilling, centre drills, drilling to depth, reamed and bored holes.
Machining and working from datum's.
Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality
Have good all round practical ability
To be able to work with great accuracy.
Able to demonstrate an interest and enthusiasm in engineering activities.
