Due to increased company demand, the vacancy for a full time permanent Mechanical Fitters/Testers has been created, this role would suit individuals that have extensive Mechanical Fitting/Testing experience, gained from a large manufacturing organisation preferably. Ideally you would be available to start immediately or within a short working notice period.

Our client, a well established company operating a 70 vehicle fleet (rigids and artics) plus 70 trailers have a vacancy for a full time HGV technician/mechanic within our onsite Workshop team. Our technicians are responsible for the safety inspections and servicing and repair of all powered vehicles and trailers plus associated plant and equipment, diagnosis of faults, and preparation and presentation for MOT tests.
- Preparing vehicles for MOT tests
- Completing accurately Safety maintenance inspection forms and other documentation relating to repair and maintenance of vehicles
- Respond to daily defect reports supplied by drivers
- Follow regular maintenance schedules and complete necessary repairs/maintenance work
- Attend breakdown calls
- Welding and electrical repairs
- Work as part of a team to achieve reliability and meet workshop targets
Qualifications & Experience:
City & Guilds or equivalent qualification in heavy vehicle mechanics is desirable
Experience of working with commercial HGV/LGV vehicles
Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems is desirable
Full valid UK driving licence with LGV class 1 entitlement preferred

The role You will be part of a 3 man team working a 3 shift rota. On your team will be an Electrician, Effluent Engineer and yourself the Mechanical Maintenance Engineer. You will be tasked to carry out preventative maintenance tasks as well as be reactive with regard plant breakdowns and repairs. All actions need to be carried out in a safe and professional manor, reporting to supervisors and filling out daily shift reports and other necessary paperwork.
General Scope of work 1. Work on Hydraulic systems 2. Work on Pneumatic systems 3. General welding and fabrication 4. Oxygen/acetylene burning 5. Bench fitting 6. Fork lift/cherry picker/OHC operation
Experience Required Completed Apprenticeship/time served would be preferred. Heavy Industrial work. Experience Slitting/Decoiling would be an advantage.
