We are looking for two mechanics to join the refurb department of our client. You will be based at their new purpose built workshop in Teddington, Tewkesbury. Our client are part of a large group who, along with the hire services, run a large fleet of HGV's, run a couple of workshops, a truck stop, a farm shop, a cafe and more.

Their Shunter tug hire fleet has grown from a couple of tugs to the largest independent fleet in the country with over 150 units on hire. The growth of the business is down to their outstanding response time and ability to service some of the highest profile hauliers in the country.

2022 saw them move into a brand new workshop designed to make their lives easier and enable them to continue to offer exceptional service to all customers. Due to their customer growth, they need to grow the team and this is where you come in.

Your key role will be refurbing the shunter tugs to a high standard so you need to be competent and take pride in your work. You will have the guidance of the Workshop Manager but would need you to have the ability to get on and complete tasks without constant supervision.

The role is working 45 hours a week plus paid breaks Monday to Friday with the opportunity to work overtime.

  • Experience in refurbing vehicles (Desired but not essential)

My client, a world leader in the design, invention and build of invasive technology for the defence sector are actively recruiting an Engineering Design Manager to join their ranks.


  • You will be qualified to a HND (Minimum Level 5) as a minimum – ideally possessing a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • You will have a good understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles and the ability to apply them in an analytical and methodical approach.
  • Knowledge of engineering calculations and ability to use them in the workplace is a must.
  • You will possess a strong background in Design Engineering, Project Management and manufacturing essential to oversee key elements in all areas.
  • Knowledge of Solidworks Solid Modelling would be an advantage.


  • Lead and Co-ordinate internal/external design staff and manage those staff on a day-to-day basis, allocating work between the teams accordingly
  • Thoroughly research new materials and processes
  • Utilise specific software to create models of the product
  • Oversee, effective testing of prototypes and record/analyse data from testing
  • Oversee design engineers modification of designs until the best version is reached
  • Preparing, scheduling, co-ordinating and monitoring assigned technical and engineering projects to meet budget and deadlines.
  • Translate client needs and create practical timelines to be met by the team
  • Identifying potential problems with the project, leading the team into developing solutions and ensuring that they are implemented
  • Act as the key interface between the engineering and manufacturing teams; ensuring design for manufacture, manufacturing readiness and the delivery of all production related processes and equipment necessary
  • Developing and creating the prototyping process either by parts, tools, processes or measurements sets.
  • Support Product Development by translating ideas into workable prototypes.
  • Developing and implementing a suitable testing program.
  • Liaise with and co-ordinate staff on a daily basis, allocating work effectively.

Our client is a market leader in the manufacture of wheels for off-highway and construction vehicles. They have a long history of wheel production at there Cookley site and have a worldwide customer base.

The role involves work on a wide variety of equipment, including mechanical/hydraulic presses, CNC turning/drilling machines and welding equipment.

Ideally you will be apprentice trained possessing the relevant qualifications, time served, with experience within heavy plant/steel/recycling/casting/foundry environments.

Working 39 hours per week on rotating shifts:

My client specialise in the design, build and installation of bespoke control systems, factory automation systems and machinery, vision inspection, plastic container handling and robotics.
They’re looking to appoint an additional mechanical fitter/installer. In this role, you will be bringing our customers’ automation aspirations to life, working across a variety of industry sectors (predominantly in food and beverage and plastic container handling) and working on some truly ground-breaking projects.
The successful candidate will be self-motivated, tenacious, punctual, and able to manage their own time effectively. You will be self-motivated, able to think/plan for yourself, and be a bit of a problem solver!

The role:
Reporting to the workshop manager, you will be required to work both in-house (~40%) and on customers’ sites/travel (~60%), responsible for general mechanical fitting and assembly of automation machinery, ensuring all projects are delivered to the highest possible standards and in a timely fashion.
It is likely you will be deployed week to week to different locations, mainly around the UK and Ireland but you should expect worldwide travel on occasion. It is rare that you will be expected to stay over a weekend but this can happen, especially on overseas projects. When you are not travelling, you will be in our workshop building machinery.
* Bonus skill but not essential - Being capable of installing control panels and making basic wiring adjustments
To be considered for the role, you will:
Be able to interpret engineering drawings (mechanical a must, electrical a plus
Have sound experience of machine assembly
  - to build assemblies and sub-assemblies
  - to build electrical and pneumatic systems
  - using general hand tools and power tools as required

Skills & Experience:
Ideally a trained apprentice and/or qualified Mechanical Fitter/Assembler
Experienced at reading and interpreting engineering drawings and able to follow written instructions and method statements
Familiar with working in hygienic environments and health and safety requirements
Previous experience of working with pneumatic systems and valves
Experienced at working on medium sized assemblies and sub-assemblies
Having a high-level understanding of industrial control systems / PLCs is a plus but not essential
Good eye for detail and able to work on their own and as part of a team
Key Requirements:
Self-starter with the maturity to be able to work with minimal supervision but equally, knows when support is needed
Trustworthy and a great communicator to ensure customers and your team have confidence
Fluent in English (second language is a plus)
A ‘can do’ attitude (we’re a small but growing team – we don’t have room for divas!)
Willingness to travel/work away from home on a regular basis (majority UK, but also abroad) approx. 60%
Full UK driving licence (with 3 penalty points or less)

Normal Hours: Monday-Thursday 08.00 to 17.00, Friday 08.00 to 14.00
